Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina formed their band in 1970 in California. Messina used to be in Poco and Buffalo Springfield. Loggins wrote quite a few tunes for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. What turned out to be their first album called "Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin' In" was originally planned as a solo debut album by Loggins. The album went gold and terrorized the charts for more than twenty months. The duo recorded some more albums, which were all successful to a certain extent. They split in 1977 but reunited in 2005 when the compilation "The Best: Sittin' In Again" was released.
