Martin Newell
Martin Newell's decidedly British pop hooks reflect his equally British sense of wry and cynical humour. A well-known poet/humorist, Newell's sometimes baroque arrangements mix jangling guitar, sound effects and unusual symphonic garnishes. After working with the persistently lo-fi Cleaners From Venus and Brotherhood of Lizards throughout the 80's, Newell released two acclaimed solo albums, 93's "The Greatest Living Englishman" and 95's "The Off White Album", "Spirit Cage" was released in 2000 and was followed in 2002 by "Radio Autumn Attic".
