With her The Best hits collection out this week, Janet has a new track to promote and watching this transported us back to her Rhythm Nation heyday. It makes for slightly disconcerting viewing because Janet and Michael were always the most lookey-likey of the Jacksons, but it also shows that Janet’s lost none of her pop touch even if the verses are mimicking George Michael’s Fast Love. Watch and realise just how much Cheryl Cole has lifted from Janet’s dance moves…

This year’s voice of Waitrose and a classical crossover star-in-waiting, 21-year-old Camilla Kerslake is the first signing to Gary Barlow’s Future Records. Glastonbury supremo Michael Eavis today confirmed that U2 will headline next year’s Glastonbury festival, set to top the Friday night bill on the Pyramid stage in their first ever appearance at the festival. Before the beginning of this year I had never been within a continent of any member of the Jackson family. Michael was an eccentric faded pop star and his brothers were mythical creatures from around the time of my birth, freeze-framed in my brain wearing brown flares and comedy affros. However, 2009 proved to be a year where my Jackson spotting would finally up its game, and also proved to be a year that they will never forget.
