From A Land Down Under
RealMusic Blog started last week in sparkling (wine) fashion when we attended a showcase of Aussie songstress Sarah Blasko at Soho’s delectable Madame JoJo’s. Already a big deal in her homeland (an ARIA winner no less), Sarah has relocated to good old Blightly to give the UK market a crack and from what we saw and heard we reckon she’s in with a pretty good chance. Quirky and delicate in appearance (she looked like she had just walked off the coolest street in Shoreditch) and with a voice that’s smooth yet foxy, Sarah took the captivated crowd through some tracks off her new album As Day Follows Night (out Spring 2010) and we’re happy to report there are some real crackers on there, especially Hold On My Heart and We Won’t Run. So keep your eyes open, as this Aussie starlet could certainly be one to watch…
We had a poll in our office the other day - ‘who had succumbed’? The ladies were quicker to raise their hands but only just; the blokes eventually did, mumbling something about there being nothing else on/girlfriends forcing them to/it being OK because they’re gay. One thing’s for sure - the Glee Effect is taking hold. I didn’t plan on getting hooked but then I realised that the show was grilled cheese on a stick and I’ve always had a penchant for that. Add in jazz hands, show tunes, dark humour and a queen villain in Sue Sylvester and you have a recipe for success. But what about Glee The Music: Season One? Erm…
